Vacancy
Nicole Easterwood

I would have never thought

spacious would be in my vocabulary.

A crammed and closed heart

Suddenly,

willingly

opened.

It came a time not to push away,

not to fight off.

Time to feel how easy

it should be.

The right person.

Wanting to see my phone light up

to mimic my face.

Giving myself room.

Room to breathe.

Room to think.

Room to feel alive.

Room to miss you.

Room to fall for you

and give you a chance

to mend the pieces

Then There's You: A new story in verse.

Posted by Nicole Easterwood on Thursday, February 10, 2011, In : Writing
I started writing this last night at 4 A.M. I have no clue where it's going, but I am super excited to find out! It is written in verse. I've been doing that a lot lately. Maybe it will merge to be a collection of verse stories- who knows.

I can’t remember when
and if I ever had anything

worth anything at all.

Always sacrificing myself

for the wrong thing.

Always too far
in between.

from where I wanted to be.

Always asking

FEATHERWEIGHT
NICOLE EASTERWOOD

PROLOGUE

In Egyptian mythology
before you could gain

entry to the afterlife

you had to answer

two questions.

higher powers face.

Did you punch a kid

in the face

and steal his shoes?

Or did you help the kid

clean up his bloodied nose

and help him find

some shoes so he...

Memoir exerpt: "I'm in Here"

Posted by Nicole Easterwood on Friday, January 14, 2011, In : Writing

*I didn't post the prologue because of many reasons. They are just poems. Maybe later though. For now, here is a little bit (a few poems) from PART I. I'm posting this, because I'm not scared of it anymore and I refuse to be ashamed by it.

PART I: EVERYTHING IS SUCH A FREAKING PICNIC

I have to get away from here.
This place is a prison

and I’m not saying that

because they won’t let me stay out

later than two in the morning.

I miss my sister.

I miss my old life.

I miss feelin...

"I look in the mirror and I see a stranger."

Nicole Easterwood

I can feel the heaviness again.
I am driving down the road
at ninety to nothing,
flooring it so I can get home,
so I don’t have to do this
in the middle of the road
alone.
My sister’s there.
She knows what to do,
what to say to me
to make me ...
